Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Avalokita (the Windows app and this website, the "Service") provided by Aperture Life ("we", "us"), a sole proprietorship of Joonyeon Kim registered in the Republic of Korea (Business Registration No. 693-29-01495).
1. Credits
- Credits are the usage units for translation. One credit equals one minute of audio and is deducted by the second while audio is being translated.
- Purchased credits are valid for 5 years from purchase. Free credits are valid for 1 year from issue. Credits that expire first are used first.
- Credits cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another account, except for refunds under our Refund Policy.
2. Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Your account and connection codes are for your own use only and may not be shared, sold or rented.
3. The Service
- The Service recognizes the sound playing on your PC, transcribes it and shows a translation on screen. It uses artificial intelligence; see About AI.
- We do not store the audio or the text we process for translation. Your transcripts are saved only on your PC.
4. Acceptable use
You must not: use someone else's account or code; resell credits, accounts or codes; bypass, modify or reverse-engineer the Service or overload our servers; use the Service for unlawful purposes; or publish, distribute or sell translations of other people's lectures, teachings or other works without the rights holder's permission. You are responsible for how you use the translations.
5. Changes and interruptions
We may suspend the Service temporarily for maintenance, outages or issues with third-party AI providers, and will give notice where possible. If we discontinue the Service, we will give 30 days' notice and refund unused paid credits.
6. Limitation of liability
AI translations may contain errors or omissions; please check important passages against the original. Except in cases of intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on translations. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
8. Changes to these terms
We will post changes at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes that are unfavorable to you).
Effective October 7, 2026.
